Cold Guava is an independent creative studio based in Durban, South Africa.
We create across art, design, games and physical products — bringing original ideas to life in both digital and tangible forms.
Our work ranges from video games and interactive experiences to art prints, original paintings, custom artwork, clothing, home décor, cushions, ceramics, collectibles and more. Some things belong on a screen. Some belong on a wall. Some belong in your home. We like making all of them.
Founded by artist and designer Bilal Sayed, Cold Guava started with a simple belief: you don't need a huge studio in a big city to create brilliant things. You need a good idea, a strong creative identity, a lot of passion, and the patience to keep working until it feels right.
Art is a major part of what we do. Through original and licensed creative works, we turn artwork into more than something you simply look at.
From fine-art prints and original paintings to custom pieces, clothing, cushions, ceramics and home décor, we explore different ways for art to become part of everyday life.
Cold Guava also works with licensed artwork and creative works from Bilal Sayed, alongside selected works and collaborations from other artists and creators.
Games are another part of our world.
We create fun, accessible experiences that are easy to pick up, satisfying to master and designed for players everywhere. Our projects range from quick casual games to original worlds inspired by South African culture, childhood memories, everyday experiences and ideas from our corner of the world.
We're currently focused on mobile and browser-based experiences while learning, experimenting and building towards bigger projects for PC and console in the future.
We don't want Cold Guava to fit neatly into one box.
A game can inspire an illustration. An illustration can become a print. A painting can become a textile. A character can become a collectible. An idea that starts digitally can eventually become something you can hold.
That's what Cold Guava is about — bringing different creative disciplines together under one home and seeing where an idea can go.
Big dreams. Small team. Endless ideas.
Cold Guava.
We're just getting started.
